Sinaproc warns about Cold Front, prevention notice is maintained

The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) informs that a prevention notice is maintained by the second cold front of the season that enters Central America and that will reinforce the rainy events during the next days.

According to Sinaproc, the affected areas will be Bocas del Toro, Comarca Ngäbe Buglé, Veraguas, Colón, Comarca Guna Yala, Darien, Panama, Comarca Emberá Wounaan, Panama Oeste, Herrera, Coclé, Los Santos, Chiriquí and the coasts.

They forecast rain from this Sunday until next Tuesday, November 9.

For the next few days, the Directorate of Hydrometeorology of the Electric Transmission Company (Etesa), SA expects the saturation of the soils, increasing the levels of streams and rivers; in addition flooded streets, saturation of sewers and landslides.

The rains are expected to be between 10 mm and 30 mm or liters of water per square meter this Sunday; between 30 mm and 70 mm on Monday 8; and between 30 mm and 60 mm on Tuesday, November 9.

Sinaproc provides the following recommendations to the public:

Have an emergency backpack handy.

Don’t risk your life trying to cross streams.

If it is raining, avoid driving at high speeds.

Avoid getting close to power lines or poles-

Stay in a safe place
