South American football champions, Palmeiras switches to crypto

Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, a Liga Libertadores Champion, announced this week that they would launch their official Fan Token $ VERDAO in partnership with Chiliz.

Palmeiras fans will have new opportunities to engage with the club through the $VERDAO Fan Token.

Besides earning unique club rewards, Fan Token $ VERDAO holders will also have the opportunity to collect NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), which will allow fans to own and collect some of the most memorable moments in the history of their team.

Palmeiras is a Brazilian professional football club based in the city of São Paulo, in the district of Perdizes. Palmeiras is one of the most popular clubs, with the most trophies and the most success in Brazil, with around 18 million supporters and 126,000 affiliated fans.

The club, which won the Copa Libertadores for the second year in a row, is now the third club to win South America’s equivalent of Europe’s Champions League.

With more than 16 million supporters worldwide, Palmeiras of So Paulo have won a record ten Brazilian Championship trophies and four National Cup trophies, making them the greatest Brazilian club of all time.

With this partnership, Palmeiras joins a roster of more than 100 sporting organizations that have already implemented’s cutting-edge blockchain technology to enhance their fans’ experiences.

A number of football giants are represented in this roster, including FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Juventus, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Atlético Madrid, AS Roma, Galatasaray, among others. MMA brands, Formula 1 teams, esports clubs, NHL, NFL, MLS and NBA franchises have also partnered with the sports-based blockchain company.

The agreement expands’s Brazilian roster to five clubs, all of which are South American champions, consolidating the country as the company’s fastest-growing market.
