Spends 5 hours locked in the bathroom of an airplane after testing positive for COVID | Digital Trends Spanish

A Michigan school teacher spent five hours locked in the bathroom of a plane bound for Iceland a few days before Christmas.

On December 20, Marisa Fotieo was traveling on an Iceland Air company plane flying from Chicago to Reykjaviky. After feeling some discomfort in her throat, the teacher took an antigen test (she carried some rapid test kits in case she needed them while traveling). In some statements for NBC News, Fotieo said that in just two seconds he could already see the two lines in the test, so it was positive.

Fearing the nearly 150 passengers who were on the plane with her, Fotieo chose to remain isolated in the plane’s bathroom for the rest of the flight, approximately for about five hours. The woman uploaded a video to her TikTok account from the bathroom. This video has already accumulated one and a half million likes and thousands of comments.

The woman says she was able to survive being locked in the bathroom for so many hours thanks to the care of flight attendant Ragnhildur Eiríksdóttir. “She made sure I had everything I needed during those five hours, from food to drinks, and constantly assured me that I would be fine,” Fotieo wrote in an email to NBC News.

Upon arrival in Iceland, the woman had to isolate herself again at a Red Cross hotel and once there she received a letter, flowers and a small Christmas tree from Icelandair flight attendants.
