This Saturday at the last minute it was already anticipated that Hermine would demote. However, although the winds are less strong, the rains will continue to be intense in the Canary Islands. This was also indicated by the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, during the press conference after the coordination meeting for the adverse atmospheric phenomenon together with the deputy director of the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies, Marta Moreno, and the delegate in the Canary Islands of the AEMET, David Suárez.

In this sense, the storm is behaving as it had been announced by the AEMET and the authorities, which is “good news”, since the nucleus begins to move towards the ocean and not towards the archipelago, It is estimated that on Monday afternoon the islands will be out of their condition.

However, Torres stressed that the cyclone will be closest to the Canary Islands between 11:00 p.m. this Sunday and 11:00 a.m. on Monday.

“These are the hours in which the most rain will predictably fall,” he pointed out to remember that on Saturday it rained more in the upper parts of the islands.

The president pointed out the forecast is that from this Sunday the rains will intensify and be more powerful in all the islands.

As for the airports, during the day there have been a dozen flight cancellations and diversions, although all airport facilities continue to operate and the initial estimate is that they will continue to do so this Sunday.
