The mobile phone operator Telcel announced the deployment of what will be the first 5G network in Mexico. Although the company did not specify an arrival date, it said that it will initially be released in 18 cities, including Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey, and that it will give more details on February 28.

At a press conference, tycoon Carlos Slim, owner of the América Movil conglomerate to which Telcel belongs, assured that the telephone company will offer 5G connection plans starting at $599 Mexican pesos (about $30 dollars).

“With 5G there will be a substantial increase in the capacity to handle data, both in download speed and response time,” the manager stressed.

In addition, he added that the deployment of the 5G network contemplates an investment of $1,800 million dollars.

Telcel 5G: compatible cell phones

Although Telcel said that all the details of its 5G plans, as well as the smartphones that will be compatible with the connection standard, will be revealed on February 28, the company commented that they currently have 40 models compatible with this network in their catalog. .
