Specifically seven golds and eight silvers, all in record in this monographic rosé contest, since nine of the thirty Cigales wineries have won 15 of the 39 Spanish awards.

In a wine tourism visit to the area, we were also surprised by some incredible reds that we will explain later, when the heat is less; but, for now, we assure you that the rosé awards can be proudly displayed on their labels

From a very profuse tasting hand in hand with the Palencia sommelier Javier San Segundo, we have discovered these ten beauties between three and eleven euros which is a real madness.

Carratraviesa: a wine that Hijos de Rufino Iglesias falls in love with, a small traditional winery in Cigales. Deep, very fruity, well structured, full bodied, complex and with many nuances conferred by the mixture of Tempranillo (80%), Garnacha (10%), Albillo, Verdejo, Sherry (10%) from a 50-60 year old vineyard. . 13.4% Vol. 3 euros.

50 Harvest RoséIt is the superior range of Bodegas Sinforiano, a more gastronomic wine, with more complexity, more structure, more body, with hints of strawberry gum, sticks, lollipops, sweet tooth. Delicious, with a long mouth, elegant as well as sparkling thanks to the acidity well played with the Verdejo. 13% vol. 4.40 euros.

Viña Calderona 2020, from Bodegas Frutos Villar, is a very well elaborated classic that mixes Tempranillo, Albillo and more Verdejo than in other vintages. She has a beautiful color and a very outstanding nose and mouth. It is powerful and has very marked citrus from Verdejo. It fills your palate with its structure, it has body and aftertaste to withstand any type of food. 13.5% Vol. 4.82 euros.

Pink carredueñas, is a 100% Tempranillo monovarietal from Concejo, the only Cigales winery on the other side of Pisuerga, capable of producing a clean, fruity wine with hints of blackberry and cherries in liquor, full-bodied, with structure, with strength, rich and very refreshing , which has taken world awards since 2010. 13.5% Vol. 5 euros.

Hiriart rosé Elite 2020: a wine with the beautiful label of the Leonese painter Manolo Sierra who honors the matriarch of the family, Doña Juana, with the great varietal diversity of white and red grapes that are mixed in the vineyard that they were given to Inés’s parents Muñoz, current manager of Hiriart, for his wedding in 1941. In this vintage the garnacha gris stands out especially, leaving a wine with a very floral, citric, smoky orange color, long and fine as a made-to-measure glove. 13.5% Vol. 6.5 euros.

7 L Pink overnight, from Bodegas La Legua, is a wine with a white spirit with a low chromatic and aromatic layer without any complex, the kind of which you finish a bottle at sunset, easy to drink, without having to eat anything. 13.5% vol. 6.75 euros.

Gray garnacha salvueros, from Hijos de Marcos Gómez winery, it looks like white because it is of this variety that gives very little color, but is very aromatic, floral and citrus. What stands out the most is the mouth, very elegant, with a long finish with very good acidity. 13.5% Vol. 8 euros.

Quelías Rosé, from Bodegas Sinforiano, is a wine aged on its own lees that was chosen in 2019 the Best Rosé in the World at the Brussels World Contest. It has more white soul than rosé because it contains a higher proportion of white varieties (albillo, verdejo) than red varieties (garnacha and tempranillo). On the nose, it is a very expressive perfume, of apricot, stone fruit and citrus. In the mouth it is a delicacy, with a lot of peach and citrus as well, complex, subtle, smooth and unctuous. 13% vol. 8.90 euros.

Pink Traslances 2020 It is a different jewel from the oenologist María Pinacho, who has removed the typical Verdejo from the equation, because for something it has that 40-year-old plot in a glass of Tempranillo and the old vineyard of Albillo, which gives watermelon and white flowers to the nose. A traditional color that respects the wine, regardless of the fashions, with a fresh flavor that is out of the ordinary and is very gastronomic, with power but without neglecting the perfect acidity of the rosé, ideal to contrast the fat of a good suckling lamb. . 14% Vol. 8.50 euros.

Muses: Bodega Museum makes this estate wine with a mixture of tempranillo, albillo mayor, moravia, viura, huerta del rey, mencía, gran negro and verdejo, varieties that coexist in its old vines from 1937, and from another plot of red garnacha, gray and blue cleaner. The coupage macerates with the lees until bottling, which gives that pale pink French-cut color, subtle and elegant on the nose, with certain white and citrus flowers, a lot of silky freshness on the palate and a pleasant intensity that lengthens in the aftertaste with rich acidity that makes it very easy to drink. 13.5% Vol. 10.95 euros.
