Terrein mountain boot: made so you don’t sprain it | Digital Trends Spanish

The company Terrein is building some sneakers special for fans of mountaineering, since it designed a model to avoid sprains resulting from long walks on uneven terrain.

The boots are equipped with a mini-piston that engages when the ankle is twisted. With the ability to react three times faster than the human body, the system blocks further movement to prevent injury and allows users to regain balance. For added security, the boots feature a proprietary high-grip rubber outsole to maintain traction on uneven terrain, while responsive cushioning provides added comfort and breathable uppers protect feet from the elements.

A rigid collar wrapped snugly around the ankle is attached to the upper body of the boot with a flexible material that allows the foot to comfortably rotate as it traverses rocks, roots, and other obstacles. The ankle collar is also anchored to a lower point on the boot with what appears to be a thick rubber strap on the outside. But the collar itself is just a cover for the actual technology.
