The Juventudes de Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (JERC), organizers each year of the Acampada Jove music festival, have reported this Saturday that they are canceling the event due to the “explosion of contagions” of COVID-19 in recent days, especially among young people , which is the least vaccinated segment of the population. In a statement they have announced their decision and have guaranteed that whoever has a ticket will receive the money they paid to obtain it during “the next few days automatically.”
The Camping Jove of this 2021 was going to be held next weekend, from July 16 to 18, in Montblanc. The promoters’ forecast was to hold five concerts each night with a capacity of 1,000 spectators.
After the pandemic already forced not to celebrate the Young Camping in 2020, this year measures such as antigen tests, reduced formats and the elimination of the camping area had been planned to avoid risks. However, and given the increase in coronavirus cases, the organizers have finally chosen not to celebrate this year’s edition either “due to collective responsibility, prudence and to take care of all of us.”
This political festival, which has been held since 1996, had on the bill for 2021 groups such as Doctor Prats, Buhos, Zoo, Ebri Knight, Oques Grasas, Roba Estesa and El Diluvi.
The Cruïlla festival in Barcelona, meanwhile, has been held this weekend with a format that includes antigen tests for attendees and the use of masks, but without safety distances. While waiting for the final figures, the positives that have been detected in the screening, and therefore have not been able to enter the site, have reached 285 since Thursday among more than 46,000 people.
