The activists camp in the offices of the Puertito de Adeje tourism macroproject and demonstrate this Tuesday in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

The camp against the construction of the Cuna del Alma tourism macro-project in Puertito de Adeje has moved to the pilot flat, which has been used as an office, after this Monday, September 26, moments of maximum tension were experienced with episodes of violence between the activists, the employees and the promoter of the project, as could be seen in a series of videos that were broadcast on social networks and a complaint of aggression filed with the Civil Guard.

For this Tuesday, at 11:30 a.m., a rally has been called in front of the Hotel Escuela de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the presence of the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, to protest the development of this urban project that has already destroyed archaeological remains and protected species.

The president of the Canary Islands asks for dialogue

Precisely the president of the Canary Islands condemned this Monday the incidents in Cuna del Alma. “Unfortunate events that occurred in the Puertito de Adeje, in Tenerife. Dialogue is always the right way to solve problems. Never violence. Let everything that happened be clarified, ”he wrote on his Twitter profile.

Cuna del alma, which intends to urbanize with hotels and 420 luxury villas (among other infrastructures) more than 400,000 square meters in a ravine and beach in the south of Tenerife, has two negative reports (from 2014 and 2017) and a sanction proposal by the General Directorate of Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands, which confirmed, after a report from the Island Council, that an important archaeological site had been irreversibly destroyed and without taking any protective measures. The company has confirmed to this newspaper that it has appealed this sanction proposal.

In addition, in the environmental impact reports presented, up to seven protected plant species that are found in the area that is already being urbanized do not appear.
