The ‘communs’ agree with the Government to extend the reduction in the price of public transport

In Comú Podem and the Government have reached a first agreement in the framework of the negotiation for the Budgets to extend during 2023 the reduction in the price of public transport, free admission for children under 16 years of age and the extension of the T-Jove season ticket up to the 30 years This was announced by the party leader, Jéssica Albiach, in an interview on ‘La 2’ and Ràdio 4.

However, Albiach sees it as “unfeasible” to reach an understanding for the accounts this Friday, when they will meet again with those responsible for the Department of Economy to get a return on their proposals on energy or housing policies. Also known about Junts’ ideas for the budgets, the leader of the ‘communs’ has warned that it would make no sense to lower taxes and that if the Government ends up agreeing to it, she will not be able to count on the votes of her group.

Albiach has considered that, as of this Tuesday, the Government “has begun to react” and now they are beginning to have “concretions”. In this sense, he has explained the first agreement in the field of mobility, and has added that the ‘communs’ negotiate other axes with the Executive. Among his demands is a “rescue” of public health, with the commitment that 25% of the Health budget is allocated to Primary Care, and an improvement in the salary conditions of professionals.

The leader of the ‘comuns’ has admitted that the Government is “pressing them a lot” to reach an agreement as soon as possible, but that closing some kind of pact this Friday is “unfeasible”. “This is not how things are done”, she has warned her, and has pointed out that “it does not come from a day”.

Among the proposals of the commons there are several on taxation. Albiach has asked ERC for “coherence” and has said that he would not understand that in Congress they ask “that the rich pay more” and in Catalonia “they do not want to apply the same policy”. Regarding the decalogue of proposals presented on Wednesday by Junts, Albiach has said that “they are nothing new” and has reproached them for wanting to “reduce taxes for those who have the most” and that it is necessary to “armorize the public school” instead of giving more resources in concert.

Regarding the talks between the Government and the PSC, Albiach said that this was a “foreseeable turn”. “It had to be produced because if you have 33 deputies and you have to approve some accounts, who will you do it with? With your former partner that you have just broken up with or with a force in which you already work in the State or in Barcelona and are they your de facto partner?
