The First Vice President of the Government and Minister for Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, announced this Tuesday that the Council of Ministers will today approve the distribution of 2,800 million euros among the autonomous communities for the deployment of investments related to the rehabilitation of housing, modernization and digitization of education and audiovisual industry.
This investment, which is part of the Recovery Plan to which Ecofin will give the green light today, “is a very important volume of resources” that adds to those already transferred to the autonomous communities so that, within the scope of their competences, they begin to execute the Recovery Plan, Calviño highlighted in statements to TVE collected by Europa Press.
The vice president celebrated that Ecofin is going to approve the Spanish Recovery Plan on Tuesday and indicated that she expects the first 9,000 million European funds committed to Spain to arrive “throughout the summer.”
Aid to owners to rehabilitate homes
The State is expected to give aid to owners who rehabilitate residential buildings to make them more energy efficient. The grants will cover between 40% and 100% of the cost of the work. In addition, the Government plans to recover the deductions in income tax for rehabilitation, which disappeared at the state level in 2013, together with the deduction for the acquisition of a habitual residence. The Ministry of Transport presented these measures when Ábalos was minister. His successor, Raquel Sánchez, has among her challenges to execute them.
Rehabilitation is the most important area of the Recovery Plan. The executive has set the goal of rehabilitating half a million buildings by 2023.
