The Death Star is almost the size of Galicia and the Bernabéu would host six Millennium Falcons: park emblematic ships with this app

The thing is about bizarre questions, but perhaps you have asked yourself more than once, especially if you are a fan of the Star Wars universe: How big is the Death Star? And a Super Star Destroyer? Would an X-Wing Fighter drive you into your garage? And, be careful, with the permission of the neighbors, of course, could you park the Millennium Falcon on the roof of your building?

You do not need to pull your imagination or go around maneuvering with the ruler, the square and the bevel on the tablet. The application Park My Spaceship allows you to check the measurements and superimpose the main ships of the Star Wars saga on any point on the map.

For tastes, sizes … and spaceships

The conclusions it leaves are, to say the least, curious and will surely surprise more than one due to the scale relationships between the different naves or the reference squares and monuments.

For example, according to the data used by Park My Spaceship for its calculations, the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid would be fairly easily six Millennium Falcon units, each with a length of around 35 meters. More or less it would occupy the same as the Temple of Debod, to the west of the Plaza de España, also in Madrid. If the ship piloted by Han Solo and Chewbacca is too big for you, you can always opt for a Naboo N-1 Starfighter, 11 meters long; the Delta-7 Jedi, 8 meters; or the X-Wing Fighter, which is around 12.5.

Does it seem like a small thing to you? You have at your disposal a Death Star Mk1, approximately 100 miles in diameter. Put on the map of Spain it would occupy somewhat less than the community of Galicia and would be large enough to overshadow much of southern Andalusia. In fact, it would almost completely cover the island of Corsica, in Italy.

The palm takes it however the colossal Death Star MK2 of the Galactic Empire, a gigantic combat station of about 900 kilometers in diameter. If it were to land on the Iberian Peninsula, at least according to the data from Park My Spaceship, it would hide it practically in its entirety, leaving only part of Galicia, the Levant and the northeastern arc of Spain in view. Italy, Iceland or the Florida peninsula, for example, would be fully covered.

Not all comparisons have to be made with the Star Wars fleet. The app also includes ships of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Mass Effect, The Hitchhiker´s Guide to the Galaxy, Thyunderbirds, Independence Day, Firefly, Space 1999, Blake´s 7, Battlestar Galactica, Real Life, Red Dwarf The Star Trek. USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, for example, is 643 meters long; and the USS Voyager reaches 345, nothing in any case when compared to 1,445 of the Battlestar.

'Star Wars: Visions': the infinite potential of the franchise, revealed in Disney + and anime code

In case the spaceships do not go away and you want to throw in the Christmas spirit, the app offers you the possibility of working with other models, such as Santa’s sleigh, nine meters long; u -look at the data- a gigantic sack with 7.7 billion gifts and a length of 400 meters that could well pass for a small scale copy of the Death Star.
