The Envoys: Campanella Brings Suspense to Paramount+ | Digital Trends Spanish

On Thursday, January 20, Paramount Plus will premiere the series in Spanish in the United States the envoys (The Envoys).

This is a new exclusive production directed by Juan José Campanella, the renowned Argentine director who won an Oscar for The Secret in Their Eyes.

The series will have eight episodes and its cast includes actors such as Luis Gerardo Méndez (Narcos: Mexico, Charlie’s Angels), Miguel Angel Silvestre (narcs, sense8), Irene Azuela (sense8) and Miguel Rodarte (Narcos: Mexico), among others.

A mystery buried for decades

According to what was announced by the streaming platform, this project will be marked by suspense.

the envoys (The Envoys) recounts the mission of two priests from the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, the Vatican organization in charge of verifying and studying miracles of potential saints, who are sent to Mexico to verify presumed miraculous healings of another cleric known for performing them in a psychiatric hospital ”, indicates the official synopsis.

“As soon as they arrive in the Mexican city, they receive the news that the priest they are looking for has disappeared without a trace. Their lives and their faith are pushed to the limit when they discover a psychiatric colony located on the outskirts of town that seems to hide more than one secret: a mystery buried for decades that underlies each inhabitant of the town.

The premiere of the series generates optimism in the team in charge of production, especially due to the possibility of reaching a massive audience through streaming.

“It’s a dream come true the envoys premieres outside of Spanish-speaking countries for global audiences on Paramount+. It is the perfect place to showcase the series and the effort of everyone involved in this project, as it deserves”, explains Campanella.

In addition to the United States, the series will be available in Australia, Canada, and the Nordic countries on Thursday, January 20.
