The management of the Extremadura Special Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires (Infocaex) has begun the preventive evacuation of the towns of Cadalso, Descargamaría and Robledillo de Gata, in Sierra de Gata, due to the complications derived from the fire in Pinofranqueado (Cáceres).
As reported by the Extremadura 112 Emergency and Emergency Center on social networks, the people from the evacuated populations, whose population would add up to approximately 550 people, will be rehoused in various municipal facilities in Moraleja.
At dawn, Infocaex has opted for the preventive removal of the residents of the houses closest to the forest mass of Torrecilla de los Ángeles (Cáceres) given the complications of the fire and as a civil protection measure in the face of the proximity of the fire.
The fire, active and classified with level 2 of danger -when the intervention of state resources not assigned to the Extremadura Forest Fire Fighting Plan (INFOEX) is necessary-, has also forced the interruption of road traffic on the EX interregional highway -204, which connects Coria with the province of Salamanca, at the height of the aforementioned town of Torrecilla de los Ángeles, where around fifty residents reside. The CC-121 (Pinofranqueado-Sauceda) and CC-122 (Muela-Robledo) highways also remain closed.
The extinction operation that will start this morning will be made up of 17 ground units, 14 aerial means, four heavy machinery, five agents of the natural environment and six technicians, a total of 275 people.
The fire is still active, at level 2 of emergencies and out of extinguishing capacity and the weather forecast is not positive because, as on Thursday, strong gusts of powerful wind are expected with temperatures that will not exceed 25 degrees.
