The father of the Star Wars ships passed away at the age of 90 | Digital Trends Spanish


One of the fathers of the ships of the entire saga starwarsthe artist Colin Cantwell, passed away on Saturday, May 21 at his home in Colorado at the age of 90.

Known for his work in the design of icons such as the death starX Wings, TIE fighters, and Star Destroyers, has other impressive career milestones, having worked at a jet propulsion laboratory and NASA during the 1960s Space Race. He was also on the education team and communications during the 1969 moon landing, working with Walter Cronkite.

But not only in Star Wars did he achieve success, since he was behind the art of magnificent science fiction pieces, such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The War of the Worlds.

Additionally, this San Francisco-born artist wrote two works of science fiction, CoreFires 1 and CoreFires 2.
