The Government Delegation confirms that the body located in Valladolid is that of Esther López, who has been missing since January

A passer-by has located this Saturday morning the body of a woman in a place in Traspinedo (Valladolid), informing the Civil Guard of his discovery, which attributes it in the first instance to the missing Esther López, whose search has been active since mid-January. The judicial authority has confirmed this afternoon that the identity of the body found this morning in Traspinedo is that of Esther López de la Rosa.

At two in the afternoon, the Colonel of the Civil Guard, Miguel Recio, at the head of the investigations, spoke that the woman’s body could be “compatible in a very high percentage with the disappeared Esther López. When we have the identification We can fully tell you that it is about Esther López”

The body was located on the surface, police sources have indicated, while asking for prudence to clarify all the details of the process, which is under judicial secrecy.

The Government delegate in Castilla y León, Virginia Barcones, has indicated that “all means will be available to clarify the facts” and has asked “to let the Civil Guard work” to preserve the investigation with all material and professional means.

The trail of Esther López, a resident of Traspinedo (Valladolid), was lost in the early hours of January 12 after a friend left her near a La Maña restaurant on the Soria highway. According to the investigations, it is in those surroundings where the last connection of her mobile took place and all trace of Esther is lost.

Several raids have been carried out in the area coordinated by the Civil Guard and in which members of Civil Protection and residents of various towns have participated. The location of the corpse has occurred in an area near beaten places, although it has not been detailed whether or not the specific place was passed in the search of recent weeks.

In the investigation, the Civil Guard arrested a man with a police record, later released, and included among those investigated a second person who had had contact with the disappeared person on January 12.
