The IMF warned about cryptocurrency scams and explained in which cases they are carried out

The scammer then supplies a QR code associated with a Bitcoin wallet whose keys are under his power for the person to use during the purchase. Later directs his victim to a Bitcoin ATM to buy cryptocurrencies and send them using the QR code that the scammer gave you before.

“Once the victim makes the payment, the recipient instantly owns the cryptomoney and often transfers the funds immediately to a foreign account, ”explains the FBI.

The United States Criminal Investigation Agency also recommended not following the instructions of someone you don’t know to scan a QR code and send a cryptocurrency payment. Also, do not respond to a person who calls you with a request for personal information.
