The impressive aerial images of the La Palma volcano from Pulitzer Emilio Morenatti

The lava thrown by the La Palma volcano already covers more than 166 hectares and has destroyed 350 buildings and thousands of people have had to abandon their homes and jobs. After the eruption, the lava can take years to solidify and until this happens, the terrain is unusable. The ash cloud has reached 3,500 meters.

The consequences of the eruption have been portrayed, among others, by the photographer Emilio Morenatti, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for his images on the impact of the pandemic in Spain. In December 2020, elDiario.es spoke with the photographer about his coverage of the pandemic.
