The incidence drops another 35 points, to 613.15 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. This Thursday, the decline was 27 points. On February 1, the rate was almost 2,700 cases, with which in just over three weeks, the incidence has fallen more than two thousand points, thus consolidating its downward trend. The same happens with daily infections, which have already recovered the figures from before the Christmas holidays and the explosion of infected from the sixth wave.
Health reports 27,527 new positives, bringing the total number of people who have been infected by the coronavirus in Spain since the start of the pandemic to almost 11 million.
Regarding the deceased, the Ministry incorporates in its latest update 248 new deaths, 99,410 deaths since the beginning of the epidemiological situation.
Moderna goes from losses to profits of almost 11,000 million in 2021 due to the COVID-19 vaccine
The US biotech company Moderna posted its first year of profit in 2021 thanks essentially to sales of its covid-19 vaccine, as reported on Thursday. Moderna obtained a cumulative profit of 12,202 million dollars between January and December (10,943 million in euros) compared to the 747 million losses registered in 2020, multiplying its turnover from 803 million dollars to 18,471.
The company attributed that remarkable income to sales of the covid-19 vaccine, its only product currently marketed, which amounted to 17,675 million dollars. Moderna’s chief executive, Stéphane Bancel, highlighted that 807 million doses of the vaccine have been delivered worldwide, of which a quarter have gone to low- and middle-income countries.
