The judge acquits Òmnium for having used the voice of a civil guard in a video of the entity

The president of Òmnium Cultural, Jordi Cuixart, has celebrated that the Barcelona Court has ratified the sentence that acquits the entity in the case of the Civil Guard agent who claimed to convict her for violating her right to her own image when using in a video the recording of his voice testifying in the trial on 1-O.

The Civil Guard agent filed an appeal after the Barcelona Court of First Instance dismissed his case in November 2020 for “making the right to information prevail over the right to the policeman’s own image,” explained the entity in a statement.

The case arises from the trial on October 1 to the Supreme Court, where the denouncing agent testified to having seen “Òmnium flags” in the demonstrations on Via Laietana in Barcelona, ​​flags that do not exist. Òmnium took advantage of this statement to broadcast a video-complaint about the trial.

Òmnium has assured that the sentence defends that, “at all times, Òmnium Cultural made use of its right to freedom of expression, a fundamental right that must be protected.”
