Those responsible for Kia have announced the EV6, a crossover type vehicle that stands out for being the first of the brand developed with the specific E-GMP architecture for battery electric vehicles (BEV).
The new 100% electric SUV of the firm boasts a autonomy of up to 528 km, 800 V fast charging and a variant, the EV6 GT, which is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 in 3.5 s.
The EV6 wants to make you travel many kilometers (without having to stop too long)
The design of the Kia EV6 was already unveiled in March, and now a model is available that represents an important step for this manufacturer in the field of electrics: its objective is to achieve that its BEV (100% electric), plug-in hybrids and hybrids represent 40% of Kia’s total sales in 2030.
The basis of this vehicle is the global electric modular platform (Electric-Global Modular Platform, or E-GMP), specifically designed for this transition to electric vehicles. This architecture is responsible for that autonomy that can reach 528 km with the WLTP combined cycle.
The most powerful variant is The EV6 GT, which has two dual 420 kW (585 PS) engines and a 77.4 kWh battery. The maximum torque is 740 Nm and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds, in addition to being able to reach a speed of 260 km / h.
This family also has a variant with standard autonomy in which the battery has a capacity of 58 kWh. The different versions combine configurations with two driving wheels (2WD) or four (AWD), the latter with a maximum torque of 605 Nm and accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.2 s.
The EV6 also offers 800V and 400V charging capacities without the need for additional components or adapters. In the first case is capable of charging from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes, or to recharge, for example, 100 km of autonomy in less than 4.5 minutes in the 2WD variant with a 77.4 kWh battery.
Lots of technology inside
With a 2,900 mm wheelbase, the interior design is highlighted by a curved screen for the infotainment system. That system includes dual 12.3-inch displays, a customizable dashboard, and a front display system (HUD) with projection of turn-by-turn directions.
Also notable among the equipment is the new heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Another of the striking components in the technological section is the highway driving assistant, which reaches its second version.
Other security measures include blind spot viewing systems and the assistant to avoid collisions in the blind spot, something that can avoid risks when changing lanes.
There are also parking aids and even an assistance system when leaving passengers after parking (Safe Exit Assist, or SEA) that allows the KIA vehicle to automatically warn and lock the doors if a vehicle is detected approaching from the rear.
Versions of the Kia EV6 are varied and They go from 46,450 euros of the base model RWD (with discounts it can stay at 34,700 euros) up to 66,750 euros for the Kia EV6 GT AWD (Long Range) version, which with discounts can stay at 59,218 euros.
