The Korea Paper House: the phenomenon that is replicated and works | Digital Trends Spanish

In 2017 Netflix celebrated the success of one of the first massive Spanish series on the streaming platform, The Money Heistwhich became a pop culture hit.

Its influence has been so great that La Casa de Papel Corea has now come out, a remake of the original, which is receiving very good comments.

Released on June 24, it is directed by Kim Hong-sun and written by Kim Hwan-chae and Ryu Yong-jae, and adapts the original screenplay by Alex Pina, with actor Park Hae-soo, one of the protagonists of The Squid Game, playing Berlin.

The fundamental premise of the story is to show in 6 episodes of the first season how capitalism devoured South Korea.

Netflix’s official plot states: “Thieves take over the Mint of a unified Korea. With hostages trapped, the police must stop them, as well as the mastermind behind the coup.”

In this remake it is based on a hypothetical unification of South Korea and North Korea ending a long civil war.

On this occasion it did not fit to use Dalí’s mask due to its null importance in Korean culture, so one was chosen that has its origins in the Hahoe, the oldest Korean mask dancehaving been declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Korea.
