The manager of the PP of Salamanca refuses to testify in the case of illegal financing during the primaries of Mañueco

The manager of the Popular Party of Salamanca, Isabel González Sánchez, has accepted her right not to testify as a defendant in the case of the illegal financing of the party during the primary process that Alfonso Fernández Mañueco won. The manager has relied on the appeal that she filed months ago with the Provincial Court to avoid that appearance as investigated. Although the appeal does not have suspensive effects, González has followed the same strategy as the PP of Salamanca and the president, Javier Iglesias, also investigated.

The accusation occurred last November, when the Prosecutor’s Office warned that the amounts allegedly donated by party charges did not coincide with the money collected and more than 24,000 euros remained to be justified. The PP has already tried to square these accounts with a new batch of affidavits, including that of Mañueco himself, who assures that he paid 1,000 euros in cash to pay unpaid fees from party members and that they could vote in their primaries. .

The collection took place between March 10 and 17, 2017, according to the PP in an “altruistic” way, with councilors, advisers, deputies and senators who put between 500 and 1,000 euros. Thus, in that week 61,937 euros were obtained. Of these, 20,447 euros were through payment at the headquarters or by transfer of defaulters, and 41,490 euros for “altruistic donations”. But according to the Prosecutor’s Office, of those 41,490 euros, only 17,350 euros are justified by means of affidavits and the origin of 24,140 euros is unknown.
