The Mandalorian: Grogu’s lightsaber would be yellow | Digital Trends Spanish

There is still a long way to go before the third season of The Mandalorian premieres. However, rumors and theories about what we will see there are already emerging, especially what will happen with Grogu and his first lightsaber.

The last thing we saw in The Mandalorian went to Grogu in the hands of Luke and recently, during Comic-Con 2021, Lucasfilm revealed a poster for the series that shows these two characters together. This confirms that Luke will take care of Grogu and will teach him Jedi skills in his first steps.

The poster also shows another interesting aspect: the details about Grogu’s lightsaber. On the one hand, we have Luke who appears levitating a yellow Kyber crystal and, on the other hand, “Baby Yoda” is levitating parts of what would be a lightsaber. So, everything seems to indicate that Grogu’s saber would be yellow, a color that is not common in Star Wars.

Now what does this mean? First, the yellow saber connects Grogu with Luke and Rey. Luke appears with one after losing his blue saber and before making the green one, while Rey shows her yellow saber at the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This would also establish a bond between Grogu and Rey, two prominent Luke students who are capable of Force healing.

Also, the colors of the lightsabers in the Star Wars saga have meaning. The blue saber is associated with combat ability (Obi-Wan Kenobi), green has to do with wisdom (Yoda) and red represents anger and torment, used by the Sith (Darth Vader). On the other hand, the yellow color symbolizes balance.

In the expanded Star Wars universe, yellow sabers were used by the Sentinels, one of the Jedi schools that sought a balance between the other two branches, the Consulars and the Guardians. Meanwhile, for Rey, the yellow saber represented her new path, leaving behind the dogma of the past and bringing a balance to the Force.

Based on all this, for Grogu it can mean something similar: the search for balance between light and darkness, and also between two orders to which he belongs: the Jedi and the Mandalorians. Also, it would represent a growth and a change in her story, just like Rey when she becomes a Skywalker.

Grogu’s path will eventually reunite him with Din, and indeed, one of the most compelling theories is that he will become the next Mandalorian Jedi. This would point out that Grogu would use a dark saber, but a yellow saber could be a symbol of his journey and his Jedi training.
