A few months ago, WhatsApp announced a new multi-device mode that would allow the messaging application to be used on different platforms without the need for the phone to be connected.
Now, this feature is available to all iPhone users through the beta version. This is version 22.214.171.124 of WhatsApp for iOS, available from the App Store.
For this new mode to be operational, the user must enter the “linked devices” tab that appears within the WhatsApp configuration menu.
In this part, a button will be displayed that will allow you to activate the multi-device meta, with which you can connect, for the moment, an account in WhatsApp Desktop for Mac, WhatsApp Web or through the Portal.
The instant messaging application allows up to four devices without the need for the smartphone to be connected.
To pair a device, you have to scan the QR code that will be displayed on the screen and confirm using Face ID or Touch ID.
Once it has been confirmed, the person will be able to baffle the iPhone to use WhatsApp Desktop as if it were a primary device.
To work, this new mode uses a newly released architecture with which messages can be sent from a secondary device (such as WhatsApp Web or the desktop version), as if it were being done from the main smartphone.
It should be remembered that even before this multi-device mode, the service depended on the telephone to send a message to the recipient.
At the moment, this feature is not available on Android. Meanwhile, the iPad application has not yet been officially launched, which is expected to happen in the coming months.
