The number of active cases in Ourense has continued to grow in the last day, while the rest of the health areas of Galicia are in decline. The main focus continues to be the municipality of Ourense in which, according to its mayor, there are about 500 active cases for a population that barely exceeds 100,000, close to the rate set by the central government to begin to raise -after the analysis of two more factors – a perimeter closure in town halls. The councilor, González Pérez Jácome, has warned that the city is “on the brink” of confinement and has requested collaboration from the population, which since last Saturday can only meet with people with whom they live. The mayor indicates that the data of 459 active cases comes from the data provided by the Consellería de Sanidade – which does not publish data by municipalities – to the council.

Data from the complete health area, which includes the entire province, indicate that active cases have increased by 55 compared to the previous day, reaching 946. In the past 24 hours, there were 41 recoveries from the disease and 96 new diagnoses of COVID -19. In the health area there are also 72 people admitted to hospitals, of which eight are in intensive care units.
In the rest of the community, the situation continues with new cases above 200 a day, while the number of patients decreases every day due to recoveries from the disease. In the past 24 hours, 217 new positives were identified, 267 were discharged and four people died. The balance of active cases, therefore, drops to 4,038.
The number of people hospitalized is similar to that of Saturday, with 288 patients, of which 36 are in intensive care units. All health areas except Ourense are decreasing their number of active cases. By total figures, Ourense is the one with the most, with 946, followed by A Coruña with 819, Pontevedra with 689, Santiago with 530, Lugo with 493, Vigo with 445 and Ferrol with 116.
