As the woman has told The newspaper, the diplomat sent and requested erotic images through a messaging application that allows conversations to be deleted after 24 hours. The alleged victim has stated that she was forced to do so to keep her job and regularize her situation in Spain.
Also, according to the complaint, the diplomat would have demanded the worker to stay in the workplace when no one was there, he would have made obscene comments and would have abused her in a hotel in the Catalan capital.
Salman Baig has denied the facts and claims to be innocent, as well as that the worker wanted to “blackmail” him when he made the decision to fire her after learning about episodes of alleged inappropriate behavior with people from his country.
The diplomat has already returned to Pakistan, where he is preparing his defense. For its part, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs opened an internal investigation of the former consul after the worker reported the facts to the embassy. Salman Baig has declared that he wants to return to Catalonia to defend himself in court.
