A fight has broken out in the Parliament of Armenia. Lawmakers have started throwing objects across the room, pitting against each other.

Scenes of chaos have erupted after a ruling party lawmaker referred to the country’s former defense ministers as “traitors,” the TASS news agency reported.

Political tensions rise

Internal political tensions have increased in Armenia since a war that took place last year. In it, the Azeri forces expelled ethnic Armenian forces from swaths of territory they had controlled since the 1990s in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and its surroundings.

In the video, security agents can be seen intervening in the room, in an attempt to quell the riots. Also, and after this incident, the parliament postponed the meeting.

The current parliament met for the first time earlier this month, after Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s party won the elections this summer.
