The Portuguese Police begin the search for Madeleine McCann in a reservoir 50 kilometers from where she disappeared

The Portuguese Police will begin this week, at the request of the German Police, the search for the British girl Madeleine McCann in a reservoir 50 kilometers from the tourist complex in the Algarve (south of Portugal) where the minor was the night of her disappearance, ago 16 years old, according to local media.

The searches will focus on the Arade reservoir, located 50 kilometers from Praia da Luz, which would have been a place frequented by the main suspect, the German Christian Brueckner, according to the Portuguese channel. SIC News.

Brueckner is currently in prison in Germany for other crimes and has a long history of crimes for sexual abuse and pedophilia, some of them in Portugal.

The German Police want to know if there are traces or evidence to provide new data on the disappearance of the minor, according to the same sources.

The Portuguese Police are working this Monday to delimit the search area and the searches are expected to begin on Tuesday with the British Police also present.

Madeleine McCann was three years old when she was abducted from the room where she slept with her two little brothers, in a tourist complex in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve, during the night of May 3, 2007, according to investigations.

Suspicions against Brueckner gained weight after he was extradited from Portugal to Germany in 2017 accused of a case of sexual abuse of minors in Greece. Investigation of his movements showed, from his mobile phone trace, that he was near the holiday resort where the McCanns were staying the night Madeleine was abducted.
