Many fans were excited by the announcement of the return of futuramaone of the most successful works of Matt Groening.
The new episodes will hit the screen from Hulu. However, not everything has been good news for fans of this series.
In an interview with dead lineJohn DiMaggio, the actor behind the original voice of Bender, pointed out that he will not be part of the new chapters of futurama.
According to what the actor narrates, it was basically a disagreement on the economic level. Katey Sagal (Leela) and Billy West (Fry) did agree to be part of the return of the series.
Unlike the other actors of the leading trio, DiMaggio considered insufficient the offer by the production of futuramaespecially considering the success and expectations that the new stage of the program has aroused.
“I’ve been thinking about everything that has happened in these months and just to make it clear, I don’t think I’m the only one who deserves to charge more. I think the whole cast deserves it,” the actor explained.
DiMaggio also addressed fans of the series by saying that this is not a lack of respect towards futurama and that the character of Bender is one of the most important in his career.
“Bender is part of my soul and none of this is disrespectful to the fans or my family of futurama”, adds the actor.
“It’s a matter of self-respect. And honestly, being tired of an industry that has gotten too corporate and takes advantage of an artist’s time and talent.”
Following this unexpected cancellation, the team behind futurama searches for a new actor to put his voice to the misunderstood Bender.
