The second breakdown in 12 hours interrupts the AVE service between Barcelona and Girona

A fault in the catenary or the pantograph at the exit of the Sants station in Barcelona has caused the interruption of the high-speed service between Barcelona, ​​Girona and Figueres-Vilafant (Girona) and has left 111 passengers trapped on a train. The authorities have already evacuated the passengers affected by the second breakdown in less than 12 hours in the AVE service in Barcelona.

The incident occurred at 9:20 am and caused the stoppage of the Avant train bound for Figueres-Vilafant, which left Barcelona at 9:10 am. The 111 passengers have been evacuated with the help of the Generalitat Fire Brigade through the emergency exits of the tunnel and have continued their road trip.

This Monday night there was another mechanical breakdown in an AVE train at the Sant. The incident caused 94 passengers to remain inside the train, which was towed with another empty train sent from the Can Tunis area.
