‘Spain lives in flats‘, the interactive journey that shows why we live in one of the countries that has built the highest and densest compared to all the cities in the world, has deserved the award World Digital Media 2022 in the data visualization category. The awards are granted by the World Media Association (WAN-IFRA, for its acronym in English).
The journalistic project prepared by Raúl Sánchez and Analía Plaza has been imposed on the finalists ‘Aquazonia‘, from the Brazilian team of Ambiental Media, already ‘The New Monarchy‘, from the American Insider. “There are no boring stories, only boring ways of telling them”, said Sánchez when collecting the award at the ceremony held in Zaragoza.
‘Spain lives in flats’ analyzes the cartographic plans of more than 12 million buildings throughout the country. The Digital Media Awards “highlight the best innovative initiatives” within European newsrooms and media and the special “Spain lives in flats” by elDiario.es stood out for “excellence in design”, “clarity of information” and the “visual impact of the project”.
This visual report has been recognized in other national and international awards. In July he won this same award at European level and, in addition, he was awarded by the Royal Statistical Society of London.
Likewise, it was third in the international awards INMA Global Media Awards, one of the most prestigious world awards for journalism and communication companies awarded by the International Media Association (INMA, for its acronym in English).
He also received a second prize in the II Vicente Verdú Prize for Journalism and Innovationwhich valued the consolidation of new quality formats, such as data journalism, in the production and visualization of the stories presented.
