We are waiting for Xiaomi to renew its range of premium devices. It was in February of this year when the company presented its Mi 11 and the leaks already speak of the new models, the Xiaomi 12 (without the prefix “Mi”), a family that it will apparently be made up of four devices.
The one that occupies us now is the Xiaomi 12 mini, a high-end device that, apparently, will be the most compact model and that has completely leaked. However, the “compact” should be put in quotes, since the leak suggests that the screen of the device will be 6.28 inches.
Xiaomi’s smallest will still be big
The leak of the Xiaomi 12 mini comes from Weibo and consists of a poster that reveals all its specifications, versions and prices. While it is true that it is a very complete leak, you have to take it with a grain of salt, insofar as it is that, a leak, and not official information.
That said, the leak suggests that the Xiaomi 12 mini will weigh 176 grams, have a thickness of 7.96 millimeters and a 6.28-inch screen. If so, it would be smaller than all current phones in the Mi 11 family. To put it in context, the Mi 11T, Mi 11T Pro and Mi 11i have a 6.67-inch screen, the Mi 11 Lite 5G NE of 6.55 inches and the Mi 11 and Mi 11 Ultra of 6.81 inches.
However, it is not as compact as the iPhone 13 mini, one of the greatest exponents of compact mobiles, whose screen is 5.4 inches. The ASUS Zenfone 8, which is also compact, has a 5.8-inch screen. So that, the Xiaomi 12 mini would be more compact than the other Xiaomi, but not as much as its more direct rivals.
In terms of technology, the Xiaomi 12 mini would mount a 6.28-inch AMOLED E5 display with 120 Hz refresh rate and 480 Hz touch sampling. Apparently it will be compatible with Dolby Vision and HDR10 +. In addition, it is expected that it is perforated in the upper area to make room for the front camera.
As for the engine, the leak suggests that it will have a Snapdragon 870 processor alongside eight or 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal UFS 3.1 storage. In the absence of a more powerful processor, the rest of the components are among the fastest today. The processor, by the way, is 5G. As for the battery, 4,200 mAh with 67W fast charge and 50W wireless fast charge.
Finally, and in terms of versions, the filtered poster advances three models: 8/128, 8/256 and 12/256 GB whose prices are of 492, 533 and 588 euros to change, respectively. It makes sense that this is the case, as the Xiaomi (not Redmi / POCO) are destined to be the most premium models in the catalog.
More leaks about the Xiaomi 12
Although the Xiaomi 12 mini has been the one that has been leaked in all its splendor, there are more leaks about the Xiaomi 12. On the one hand, they are expected to be one of the first mobiles to mount the Snapdragon 898 (although a rumor claims that this SoC could be released under another name, Snapdragon 8 gen1).
On the other hand, Equal Leaks claims that The Xiaomi 12 and 12 mini will be launched next month and that the Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12 Ultra will do so next year. This would also be indicative that the Snapdragon 898 or Snapdragon 8 gen1, whatever it’s finally called, is just around the corner.
