The Swedish province that Erling Haaland buried on the internet | Digital Trends Spanish

An unusual and tragicomic situation is being experienced by the peaceful Swedish province of Halland, in the south of that country, and all because of the Norwegian attacker of the Manchester CityErling Haaland.

Halland province, Sweden.

The scope of the name, at least phonetically, has also generated enormous confusion on Google and on social networks, since every time the name of the Scandinavian province of the west coast of Götaland is placed in the popular search engine, the first reference is the giant blonde striker.

And the head of the Swedish tourist office for the region has had enough and has busted.

Visit Halland director Jimmy Sandberg has written an open letter asking Britons, journalists and football fans around the world to hit the spell checker before they hit send.

“We are Halland. This is Haland. The popularity of the soccer phenomenon is completely stifling our online presence,” he wrote.

“To our despair, we now see that all of our efforts to promote Halland are quickly being erased.
“If nothing is done, we fear that our beloved region risks becoming a forgotten Atlantis, a place only known in ancient stories and writings.”

To exemplify, he also uploaded screenshots of Instagram, where the hashtag of the province #Halland, derives in photos of the footballer.

“Ever since Haaland came to Manchester City and scored all those goals, we have been overwhelmed by his presence in our hashtags and search engines,” added the manager of the tourist office.

In any case, Sandberg also admits on the BBC that the Norwegian is an excellent tourist hook:

“We would love for you to come here,” he said. “Many Norwegians come here every year, so it would feel like home. “See you next summer at Halland, Haaland?” he commented.
