The USO union expands to 92 the flights canceled due to the crew strike at Iberia Express

92 flights canceled due to the cabin crew strike at Iberia Express between August 28 and September 6, reports the union calling the strikes, USO. The union organization has published the list of flights canceled by the airline (which only recognizes 12), up to a total of 98, which it considers a sample of the “wide support of Iberia Express crew members for the strike call”, motivated for the negotiation of the collective agreement, in which wages are of great importance.

After the publication of the list by the union, Iberia Express has sent a statement in which it only recognizes the cancellation of 12 flights for the moment, between September 28 and 30.

However, elDiario.es has been able to confirm in the morning that many of the flights that appear on the USO list on those days (many more than twelve) appeared as canceled in the website that Iberia Express has been launched to report incidents in the strike.

After the airline’s statement, several of these consulted flights no longer appear as canceled and, instead, the following message appears: “We did not find information related to this flight, please check the data you have entered or contact with our customer service.

At Iberia Express they add that “the company has not yet made any decision on the affected flights as of the 31st. Once the situation is evaluated in the coming days, it will be duly informed.”

The airline explains that “these cancellations are intended to minimize, above all, the impact on our customers.” To all the clients affected by the cancellations, they affirm in Iberia Express, “around 3,000 passengers, have been duly notified and a reaccommodation process has been launched in other flights of Iberia Express, Iberia and other airlines, throughout that we add alternatives such as bonuses and reimbursements”.

The union announced last week the call for a strike, for ten days in the final stretch of the summer period, which coincides with the journeys of many vacationers.

Sources from the USO union assure this medium that the list of flights affected by the cancellations, the total of 92 between August 28 and September 6, is the result of the information available to the organization.

Among the canceled flights are the connections from Madrid with Palma de Mallorca, Gran Canaria, Santiago de Compostela, Seville, Malaga and Tenerife North. “Around 17,000 passengers will be affected by these flights canceled by the company to avoid the embarrassment of queues at Iberia counters,” they say in USO.

USO called the strikes for the negotiation of the II Collective Agreement of the cabin crew, which sposthas that it is blocked due to “a null interest in improving the working conditions of the group, opposing any union proposal and offering alternatives far from reality”.

The union recalls that it demands an annual salary review according to the CPI during the term of the agreement to adjust salaries to the increase in prices, since the crew members have had their salaries frozen for 7 years“,

“With these cancellations, Iberia Express does not risk the planes not leaving because the crews second the strike call. This decision makes it clear that the airline is aware of the discomfort of its staff but, however, does not come with proposals to the meetings that have been held throughout this week and in which USO has shown its willingness to call off the strike . We need proposals on the table that stop making our working conditions more precarious and they do not arrive”, denounces Estefanía Díaz, USO delegate at Iberia Express.

In Iberia Express they have made “a new appeal to the responsibility of the union” this Friday “so that it calls off the stoppages and bets on dialogue and not on social confrontation,” the airline collects in its statement. “We regret the inconvenience that this situation is causing our customers and we apologize for it,” they add.

The airline has asked the USO to “adhere to the agreement reached with the CCOO to advance improvements in working and salary conditions and continue with the negotiation of the II Collective Agreement for cabin crew (TCP)”, reported the Europa Press agency.

The USO union has published the following list of canceled flights for the ten days of strikes. At the moment, Iberia Express only informs on your website of cancellations until August 30.
