The poll, which surveyed 8,069 people, ran between 24 and 31 August 2021. Respondents were asked to tell us how much they are worth by adding up the value of everything they own; from properties and cars to savings and pension funds. Then, deduct anything they owe, such as any outstanding mortgage and other debts, excluding student loans.
While not a representative sample of the UK population, the poll offers a snapshot of people’s financial positions as Covid-19 restrictions continue to ease and life for many slowly returns to’normal’. The seven tables below detail the overall findings, plus the separate findings by age group.
