The National Police on Tuesday arrested four people who allegedly hung a Real Madrid soccer player Vinícius Jr’s shirt on a bridge near the team’s Ciudad Deportiva.
Why Vinícius is right when he says that Spain is racist
The events allegedly occurred at the end of January this year, but the perpetrators had not yet been identified. According to investigations by the State Security Forces and Corps, these people hung a banner with the slogan “Madrid hates Real” and a doll with the footballer’s shirt.
The player has been a constant victim of racist insults, and this Monday he spoke about the latest chants received in Sunday’s game against Valencia: “Racism is normal in LaLiga, Spain is known as a country of racists,” he said.
However, despite the racist incident, the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, responded that Vinícius Jr had to make sure he “understood well” the powers of the institution in cases of this type.
