They catch a bicycle thief thanks to Google Earth | Digital Trends Spanish

The applications that Google Earth has are multiple and it is possible that they even exceed those proposed by the technology company at the time of launching this platform. In recent times, this satellite image service has been used to find lost people and now it has once again played a relevant role in another police case.

In recent days, Google Earth images have helped uncover a bicycle thief. It is about an Englishman who accumulated a large number of units of this means of transport in the courtyard of his house in Oxfordshire, England. There were so many that they could even be seen from space.

According to local media, the police opened an investigation against the 54-year-old subject after finding this place. This person was arrested after her neighbors began to complain about the large number of rats that came to her patio where she had her bicycles stacked.

According to the neighbors, during the last five years they saw how a van came to this residence to leave the bicycles. It is estimated that his unusual collection may have been growing at a frantic pace during all this time and now the small courtyard was overwhelmed.

“I started reporting on his festering bike collection four years ago, but it’s been going on for about five years now. I made the first report because the number of bikes was just ridiculous. There must have been at least 500 of them. When I spoke with him he told me that he was going to send them to Africa for needy children but, as you can see, they never went to Africa”, says a neighbor of the accused.

The English bicycle thief is on probation while the investigation lasts.
