In order to follow up on the 43 consensual proposals of the High Level Public – Private Commission for Economic Reactivation The country formed seven commissions made up of a total of 14 members.
The team met yesterday with the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, managing to draw a roadmap for the execution, monitoring and follow-up of the second phase.
This team will be in charge of monitoring and implementing the second phase of the 43 proposals agreed by more than 125 professionals, according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.
For such purposes, Seven working groups were established around the Energy, Financial, Industrial, Construction, Agricultural, Tourism and Transversal sectors. The team will be made up of 14 members, seven from the public sector and an equal number of members from the private sector.
The Energy table is coordinated by Cristóbal Samudio for the private sector and Oscar García for the public; that of the Financial sector is made up of Juan Carlos Arosemena, from the private sector and Ariadna Rodulfo from the public sector; the Industrial: Luis Frauca and Francisco Mola for the private and public sectors respectively; Construction is made up of Iván de Icaza from the private sector and Julio Mock from the public and Agriculture is made up of Manuel Fernández from the private sector and Frank Rodríguez from the public.
While Jackeline Bern, from the private sector and Yuealy Sing from the public sector, coordinate the Tourism sector and the Transversal table It is coordinated by Alfredo Du Bois and Betsy Castro by the private and public sectors, respectively.
Antonio Fletcher, on behalf of the National Council of Private Enterprise, (CoNEP), explained to President Cortizo Cohen the work methodology of the conformed tables, which must render a monthly report with the progress to the members of the High Level Public-Private Commission for the Economic Reactivation of the country.
“The objectives of these tables is to ensure the implementation of the proposals that were agreed upon, maintain the economic openness of the country and continue working together to get out of the situation we are in and keep the largest number of jobs, ”explained Fletcher.
In the High Level Public-Private Commission for the Economic Reactivation of the country, they agreed to 43 proposals out of 51 submitted.
Some of the consensual proposals are: the digitization of procedures and processes in industry and construction; promote the culture of consumption of national production; promoting the purchase of national products by the Government under the “Made in Panama” seal and reactivating the livestock traceability program.
In the tourism sector they propose to undertake a campaign of domestic tourism consumption and reactivate the demand of international travelers with duly endorsed proposals, through the Tourism Promotion Fund (Promtur).
In the financial aspect they consider necessary strengthen strategies for the country to get out of discriminatory lists. Regarding the construction sector, the Commission agreed that it is necessary to eliminate some municipal rates that are not uniform in all municipalities.
The meeting was attended by, for the private sector: Gabriel Diez, vice president of CoNEP; Luis Frauca, president of the Industrial Union of Panama (SIP); and Severo Sousa, Antonio Fletcher, Analisa Montenegro and Alfredo Dubois, from CoNEP.
Accompanying President Cortizo Cohen, for the public sector: Ramón Martínez, Minister of Commerce and Industries; José Alejandro Rojas, Minister Counselor of Facilitation of Private Investment and Benjamín Colamarco, Executive Secretary in the Secretariat for Follow-up to Execution and Compliance.
