They reconstruct in a very realistic way the face of Tutankhamun | Digital Trends Spanish

A Canadian sculptor named Christian Corbet used a 3D model of the skull of tutankhamun to do it reconstruction “more realistic” than egyptian pharaoh face who ruled between 1332 a. C. until his death in 1323 a. c.

Using tissue markers to indicate the depth of the flesh in different areas, the artist tried to get closer to the face of the pharaoh, with the characteristics of modern Egyptians.

“We worked from the 3D model of the skull and then added the layers of muscle,” said Andrew Nelson of Canada’s Western University, who conducted the scan.

“The anatomy of his skull guided the facial reconstruction, so I think it’s a much more realistic appearance than any we have seen in the past“he added.

Commenting on the working process, sculptor Corbert commented that “I maybe added a bit of an upturn to the lips, but then again, there was no fabrication of features, even the ears were carefully thought out,” he commented.

Finally, to the recreation they added a ‘jepresh’, What is the name of the Egyptian war crowns? “That was creative, but there was also reference to sculptures from the time of Tutankhamen depicted with the crown”
