The incident, first reported by databreaches.netoccurred in June when an unidentified hacking group claimed they used social engineering to trick an employee at a Maryland Marriott hotel into giving them access to his computer.

“Marriott International is aware of a threat actor who used social engineering to trick an associate at a single Marriott hotel into providing access to the associate’s computer,” Marriott spokeswoman Melissa Froehlich Flood told The Associated Press.
