Netflix CEOs got the shock of their lives with the surprise breakout of The Squid Game, the Korean series, as one of the most watched on the platform in history. For this reason, they have not hesitated to give them a second wind with another season.
And this Sunday, June 12, according to a message from director Hwang Dong-hyukthe second season will see the return of Gi-hun and the mysterious Front Man. The note also says that “the man in the suit with ddakji might be back”, and that we will also be introduced to Cheol-su, the boyfriend of Young- hee.
“It took 12 years to bring the first season of ‘Squid Game’ to life last year. But it took 12 days for ‘Squid Game’ to become the most popular Netflix series ever,” writes Hwang. “As the writer, director and producer of ‘Squid Game,’ a big shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show… Please join us once again for a whole new round.”

It’s unclear when exactly the second season will make its debut, or if it’s even finished yet. In an interview with Vanity FairHwang told the outlet that he might watch the next season of Squid Game in late 2023 or 2024, and will feature more diabolical games.
