This will be the renewed version of the series The Wonder Years | Digital Trends Spanish

The Wonder Years (The wonderful years), was one of the most popular and successful series of the late 1980s.

This production is still fondly remembered by fans, which has motivated ABC to develop a new version.

Like the original, the new proposal will be set in the late 1960s and the plot will focus on a middle-class African-American family living in a small town in Alabama.

The protagonist is Dean Williams, a 12-year-old boy who proposes to be the great unifier in times marked by racial division.

“The fact that it’s a new family, new characters, allows us to keep some things that we loved about the original, but tackling a completely unique and new story with new people,” explains Fred Savage, protagonist of the original series and executive producer. of the new project.

The series will be released on September 22 in the United States. It will reach Latin America through the Star Plus platform.

During a panel of the Association of Critics of the United States, the filmmakers were asked why they decided to adapt the series to the same time of the previous work.

“We wanted to take the opportunity to tell a part of the life of the Afro-descendant middle class that had not been seen before,” explained creator and executive producer Saladin Patterson.

“Usually when you talk about the late sixties, you address the conflict, the civil rights movement and that they are valid, and that they are also part of our history, but the perspective of what the Afro-descendant middle class was doing specifically at that time is somewhat that stood out for Lee Daniels and for me too when we started talking about this series ”.

Along with this announcement, the trailer for the new series was also shared.
