Total Producer Price Index (PPI) for November 2021-20 rose 3.3%


The total Producer Price Index (PPI) for November 2021-20 showed an interannual variation of 3.3% , according to the Producer Price Index of the Manufacturing and Agricultural Industry (IPP) published by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Inec).

In the case of Manufacturing Industry PPI November 2021-20 registered a year-on-year variation of 4.2%, while the Agricultural PPI for November 2021-20 reflected interannual variation of 0.8%.

The annual PPI as of November 2021 was 2.2%, the ehe total PPI for November 2021 compared to August 2021 reflected a variation of 0.9%.

According to the Inec, the PPI of the Manufacturing Industry for November 2021 compared to August 2021 showed an increase in the following divisions: Leather and leather products; footwear by 15.5%, due to the rise in the price of bovine and equine leather; Manufactured metal products, except machinery and equipment in 3.4%, due to the increase in the price of other iron, steel or aluminum manufactures, mill products and starches and their products; other food products by 2.9%, due to the growth in the price of other sugars and their syrups.

1.8% manufactured textile fibers, caused by the increase in the price of paints,
varnishes and related products; knitted or crocheted fabrics; clothing by 1.4%, caused
by the rise in the price of clothing, other than knitted or crocheted; 1.2% meat, fish, fruits, legumes, oils and fats, due to the growth in the price of crude palm, coconut and linseed oil; pulp, paper and paper products; printed matter and similar articles by 0.6%, due to the rise in the price of rolls continuous for the manufacture of toilet paper or facial paper and other types of paper.

Products made of wood, cork, straw and plaiting materials at 0.4%, due to the increase in the price of lumber sawn or cut lengthwise, cut into sheets or debarked; Furniture; orOther transportable goods nec at 0.4%; due to the increase in the price of bed bases; mattresses with springs, padded or internally trimmed of any material or of rubber or plastic materials, cellular, coated or not; pillows and cushions.

Basic chemicals by 0.1%, caused by the growth in the price of Hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and rare gases.

The divisions that did not show variations were: dairy products; textile articles (except clothing); glass and glass products and other non-metallic products nec; machinery for general uses; Electrical machines and apparatus and Medical devices, optical and precision instruments, clocks.

The divisions that showed decreases were: common metals by 0.4%, caused by the decrease in the price of rolled products, drawn or bent of iron and steel, with no other processing than rolling; drinks by 0.3%, due to the decrease in the price of undenatured ethyl alcohol.

In addition, rubber products and plastic products decreased by 0.2%, due to the decrease in the price of plastic plates, sheets, tapes and strips, and transport equipment by 0.2%, due to the decrease in
decrease in the price of bodies for motor vehicles.

The Agricultural PPI for November 2021 compared to August 2021 reflected an increase in Livestock Products by 0.5%, caused by the increase in the price of live animals, and presented a 0.1% decrease in agricultural products, caused by the decrease in the price of legumes, roots and tubers.
