Trial begins for ‘Don Carlos’, lieutenant of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel

The Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) managed to link Carlos Pelayo Núñez, alias ‘Don Carlos‘, one of the high ranks of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

He is being held in CEFERESO 13 in Oaxaca, where he was notified of charges determined by a Control Judge in Mexico City based in the North Prison, who will judge him for his alleged responsibility in crimes against health in the modality of possession for commercial purposes of fentanyl and methamphetamine hydrochloride; possession of a firearm and cartridges for the exclusive use of the Army, Navy and Air Force.

‘Don Carlos’ It is considered one of the main operators of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. According to the judicial file, he supplied weapons and vehicles to the criminal organization in the tourist area of ​​Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, a city considered to be the center of operations of that criminal organization.

He is also identified as one of the members of the first circle of the CJNG leader, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes ‘El Mencho’, who gave him direct orders.

His arrest was recorded on January 20, in an inter-institutional operation in which not a single shot was fired; elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), National Guard (GN) and Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) participated, who carried out a search procedure, in which a weapon was seized. of long fire, three chargers, 18 cartridges, 889.6 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, two thousand 387 fentanyl tablets, eight cell phones and a recent model BMW vehicle.

The security device was carried out in a residence located on Gaviota street, corner with Pelícano in the Marina Vallarta subdivision.

After the operation, the Secretary of National Defense reported that by making the detainee available, they seek to deal “a significant blow” to the structure of the CJNG, in the state of Jalisco, “Given the actions of criminal groups in some entities of the country and the problem of high rates of violence in that federal entity, the Mexican State responds forcefully, with the reinforcement of the security deployment, through patrols, reconnaissance, social proximity and security posts, ”says the statement.
