On January 6, 2021, hundreds of supporters of the former president tried to invalidate the results of the elections that Joe Biden won. So far, more than 725 people have been arrested in connection with the insurrection. Of these, 165 have been found guilty and at least 70 have been sentenced or are in process. The former US president, who at no time has confirmed his intentions to run in the elections, has said that, if he goes and wins, he will treat those accused of the attack “with justice”, according to CNN statements quoted by Europa Press.

“If I run, and if I win, I will treat the people of January 6 fairly. And if amnesties are needed, I will grant them. They have been treated very unfairly,” Trump said.
