Canada’s resource-heavy main stock index opened lower on Wednesday as energy stocks tracked weakness in crude prices, while investors focused on Bank of Canada’s decision later in the day where it is expected to announce a 75 basis point hike.

At 9:30 am ET (13:30 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index was down 89.05 points, or 0.47 percent, at 18,999.1. (Reporting by Aniruddha Ghosh in Bengaluru; Editing by Anil D’Silva)
