Twitter explains why some tweets appear blank | Digital Trends Spanish

Strangeness caused the display of previously embedded blank tweets on third-party websites. The innovation in the Twitter social network is effective from the end of March 2022 and one of the first to report it was Kevin Marks.

According to their analysis, “Twitter is using your embedded JavaScript to edit other people’s sites.” For the same reason, it would be enough to deactivate the programming language in the browser to see the texts as before.

“This is manipulating the public record,” he protested. As an example, he pointed to an article on the Vox portal, which at the time included publications by former US president Donald Trump, whose account was suspended for violating the platform’s rules.

“Any article on (a) news site that quotes a tweet from the former president (…) will now have an incoherent hole,” he posted on his blog. “I don’t think Twitter should edit other people’s web pages to remove tweets that have subsequently been deleted,” she added.

Their complaints were heard by the product manager of the social network, Eleanor Harding, who validated the change. “We are doing it to better respect when people have decided to delete their tweets,” she wrote on the same platform.

The executive announced for “very soon” more complete arguments “that explain why the content is no longer available.”
