The events took place on Arrantzale street around 5:30 p.m. Different police sources consulted by this newspaper explain that they are working with the hypothesis that it could be a sexist murder using an explosive, although the official information is still very incipient. This was confirmed at 7:30 p.m. by the Lehendakari himself at the start of a PNV rally in Basauri, where a minute of silence was observed and in which the vice-lehendakari and Security Councilor, Josu Erkoreka, was present among the public.

In Orio, the Police have cordoned off the area of the events and are analyzing the scene of the crime. The corpses have been covered with white sheets. “We came to this meeting with sorrow, with sadness at the tragic event that took place this afternoon in Orio with two people who allegedly died due to sexist violence”, stated the Lehendakari, who expressed his “solidarity with the families and relatives”. In another second intervention, also at the same event, Urkullu has asked women to denounce and the environments that may know of cases to help them do so. “Let’s see if together, as soon as possible, we take steps in favor of equality”, he pointed out.
