Police from the Internal Affairs Division of the Mossos d’Esquadra arrested two agents this Thursday in Barcelona for the crimes of illegal detention, torture and injuries, as reported by the Catalan police in a statement.
In a concise note, the Mossos have explained that four other agents are being investigated and that the two detainees will go to court “in the next few hours”.
According to the Mossos, the events occurred during a police action in Barcelona at the end of 2021. Asked by elDiario.es, a Catalan police spokesman limited himself to pointing out that it was a citizen security action, that is, the agents who usually patrol the streets and are the first to attend to citizens.
The general directorate of the police has opened a disciplinary file on the agents involved and has removed the two detainees from service.
